Dr. Jensyn K. Cone Sullivan is a physician-scientist specializing in transfusion medicine and clinical pathology, currently serving as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Michigan. As the medical director of the blood bank and the director of the cellular therapies laboratory at Michigan Medicine, she oversees clinical care and research for complex patient populations, particularly those experiencing alloimmune platelet transfusion refractoriness. Her research is dedicated to developing innovative techniques that increase the availability of compatible blood products for highly alloimmunized patients and establishing ethical guidelines for the allocation of these essential resources.Â
Before joining Michigan Medicine, she held leadership roles at Tufts Medical Center and completed her advanced medical training in Boston, including a residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and a fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Her professional achievements include being named a 2024 ASCP 40 Under Forty honoree and receiving the Pathology Trainee-Selected Mentor of the Year award during her time at Tufts. Beyond her clinical and academic work, she is a classically trained musician who performs piano for patients and families through the Michigan Medicine Music While You Wait program.
