Dr. Akriti Gupta, MBBS, is a board-certified pathologist and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at University of Michigan Health. She holds dual expertise as a specialist in both cytopathology and genitourinary (GU) pathology, focusing on the diagnosis of diseases through cellular examination and conditions affecting the urinary tract and male reproductive organs. Her clinical practice involves signing out complex GU and cytopathology cases while actively participating in the education and mentorship of medical students and residents.Â
Dr. Gupta earned her medical degree from K.S. Hegde Medical Academy in India and completed an initial pathology residency at KMC Manipal University. After moving to the United States in 2016, she conducted prostate cancer research at Mount Sinai in New York before completing an Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency and a cytopathology fellowship at the University of Virginia. She further refined her subspecialty expertise with a genitourinary pathology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic before joining the University of Michigan faculty in late 2024.
